Artistic Director and Artist in Residence Len Rhodes invites you to an exciting afternoon with Basil Vendryes and James Howsmon. Basil Vendryes has been Principal Violist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since 1993; and currently serves on several faculties including the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver. Basil has performed with many orchestras worldwide. James Howsmon is the NEA Conservatory Professor of Instrumental Accompanying at the Oberlin Conservatory; and has performed in over 1,000 recitals in North America, Europe, and Japan; and with many major orchestras. The program includes Sonata #2 for Viola da Gamba and piano, BWV 1028 by Bach; Sonata #1 in C minor (1924) by Röntgen; Phantasiestücke, Opus 117 by Fuchs; Magnificat (2012) by Pigovat; Elegie by Vieuxtemps; Liebestraume #3 (arranged by Lionel Tertis) by Liszt; Arlechino’s Waltz by Mullikin.
