    Four Shillings Short

    First concert of the 2014-2015 Summit Music and Arts Concert Series. A "Friend of Summit Music and Arts" is entitled to free admission to all series concerts (look under "DONATE" to see a list of benefits). Children under 17 are FREE. The international duo Four Shillings Short from California will present an evening of Celtic, Folk & World music on a fantastic array of world instruments (over 30) including hammered & mountain dulcimers, Medieval & Renaissance woodwinds, mandolins, the Sitar from North India, tinwhistles & recorders, Andean Charango, Medieval bowed psaltery, banjo, guitar, Chinese Erhu, percussion, vocals and even a Krumhorn. Four Shillings Short visited Summit Middle School recently and performed, discussed and demonstrated various instruments and answered questions from the children.

    Summit Music and Arts Fundraiser. Keystone house concert. Limited seating. Show business was THE business for the three men you will get to know better with this performance - Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin - all incredibly successful, yet each suffered tragic circumstances. They created music that, even to this day, affects our lives and emotions. Songs such as “Oh, Lady Be Good”, “Night And Day”, and “Blue Skies." It’s not just the music, but the stories of these three lives that make this evening so special. Join entertainer, singer, musician, and artist Jerry Brown with Len Rhodes at the piano. 1920-30s dress suggested but not required. Just come and have fun!

Join Karen Bentley Pollick, violin; Jeffrey Watson, cello; and Debra Ayres, piano, in a thought-provoking classical concert highlighting the special relationship between three generations of composers. This program features three piano trios by composers Dmitri Shostakovich, Joseph Dorfman, and Ofer Ben-Amots. Each of these trios was written in memory of a great friendship and mentorship. Presented by the Town of Silverthorne in partnership with Summit Music and Arts and the Dercum Center for Arts and Humanities.

    Fifth concert of the Summit Music and Arts 2014-2015 Concert Series. A "Friend of Summit Music and Arts" is entitled to free admission to all series concerts (look under "DONATE" to see a list of benefits). Children under 17 are FREE. Summit Music and Arts welcomes the return of violist Basil Vendryes with pianist James Howsmon. Basil Vendryes has been Principal Violist of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra since 1993. He is a former member of the San Francisco Symphony, the New York Philharmonic and the Rochester Philharmonic orchestras. Mr. Vendryes has recorded for Columbia, Phillips, Decca, RCA and Nonesuch, as well as chamber music for the Cadenza Music, Centaur, CRI and Naxos labels. Mr. Vendryes plays on a rare Italian viola made in 1887 by Carlo Cerruti.
